Micro Finance in Lamreh

Titian is giving financial assistance to the Lamreh community who are trading in the Soroptimist built market place in Lamreh. In partnership with the local Micro Finance Institution – PINBUK and the assistance of BRR (Badan Rehabilitasi and Rekonstruksi) – a government body to rehabilitate and reconstruct Aceh in the aftermath of 2004 Tsunami, Titian helped establish and legalise the Community Cooperation whose members are from Lamreh Village. PINBUK trained the Co-op manager to set up and run a small Market Bank from which the community can borrow money. PINBUK will monitor their activities for a year. After that, the Co-op is expected to be able continue to run independently. Funding for this program is provided by CLSA International.
Tsunami’s and Conflict Widow Programme

In partnership with CLSA International, Titian Foundation has successfully completed the construction a food processing home industry centre in Pidie, Aceh. This Micro Financing Concept and entrepreneurship training will be introduced to 134 women whose husbands have died, disappeared or run away during the conflict and/or Tsunami. The programme has been running satisfactorily so far and we are confident that it will facilitate the women to be financially independent. Titian is planning to replicate this model in other areas throughout Indonesia.
